Sean Butler

Sean Butler is an MBS student in International Public Policy and Diplomacy at UCC, and a member of the 161st Session. Previously, he was a member of the NUIG Literary & Debating Society, where he held the committee positions of Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Internal Convenor and Society Development Officer.

He and his partner Emily Ravenscroft controversially finished in 17th place at the European Universities' Debating Championships in Amsterdam 2010, denied a place in the Quarter Finals by an error involving speaker points deduction for not taking Points of Information.

He represented UCC at the 2011 World Universities' Debating Championships in Botswana as a member of Philosoph A alongside Gearoid Wrixon, where they finished in 43rd place with 17 points. He was also a part of Philosoph A for EUDC Galway 2011 alongside John Beechinor, where they broke 3rd on 20 points.
